On 18th & 19th February AMAA travelled to Sydney after being invited to the Asbestos and Dust Diseases Research Institute, to help with input for a research project being undertaken with focus on the impact of psycho-social support for dust disease patients.
AMAA joined with patient support advocates including Vicki and Tanya from ACV/GARDS, Melita Markey, from the Asbestos and Dust Diseases Society of Australia and Liz Schenk from the Asbestos Diseases Foundation.
It is very fortunate that ADDRI holds high value in the unique perspectives and experiences of support groups from around Australia. These groups work endlessly to provide the best possible social support and referrals for people affected by dust diseases in Australia and Internationally.
AMAA is genuinely thrilled at the opportunity to continue this collaborative effort with ADDRI.
Sincere thanks to Kim Brislane CEO of ADDRI, Anthony Linton Head of Research, Shane McArdle Manager – International Projects , Carmel Oostveen Mesothelioma Support Coordinator, and Jennifer Coles Silicosis Support Coordinator. Also thanks to Mat Werfel, member of the ADDRI Board for his continued support. #asbestosis #socialsupport #ADDRI #silicosis
