Deadly asbestos is being illegally dumped

This article “Asbestos dumpings happening more often, council officer says” published in the Byron Shire News is a timely reminder of the importance of correct asbestos identification, removal and disposal.  There are concerns that people are illegally dumping asbestos on public and private land in an effort to avoid incurring asbestos removal and disposal fees.  Unfortunately people who are illegally dumping and handling asbestos containing materials are endangering themselves and the community.  There is no safe level of asbestos exposure and every type of asbestos is hazardous to your health – don’t take the risk!  If you are considering renovating or handling asbestos containing materials, consult the professionals and seek the appropriate advice.
