Welcome to 2023

The Asbestosis and Mesothelioma Association of Australia limited (AMAA)and its volunteers have been involved in patient support, advocacy, following medical research and submissions to Parliament for over two decades. AMAA continues to provide support via our Outreach Centre situated Ground Floor, Club Tweed corner of Florence and Wharf Streets, Tweed Heads, NSW, Australia 2485.

AMAA assists people Domestically and Internationally via email, telephone and Skype and will continue to do so as Australia has a long history of asbestos use and as a result, has a significant population affected by asbestos-related diseases.

As such, the country has been at the forefront of research in the field of asbestos disease. Australian researchers have made important contributions to our understanding of the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of asbestos-related illnesses, such as mesothelioma.
Australian institutions have also been involved in numerous studies exploring the long-term health effects of exposure to asbestos and developing new diagnostic tools to detect asbestos-related diseases.
There has also been research into alternative materials to replace asbestos in various applications and efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos exposure.
Overall, Australian research continues to play a key role in advancing our understanding of asbestos-related diseases and finding ways to prevent and treat them.
Please support AMAA as we are a not-for-profit charity organisation who supports patients, research, and educates community about asbestos risks.
